Ahsan Ishaq is a software engineer and the founder of Ahsomatic, an AI automation studio. He spent seven years building Android applications before moving into applied AI, and now builds systems that stop service businesses losing the enquiries they already paid for. His current product is CareLayer, an AI web receptionist for dental and health clinics.
I started in Android. Seven years of it — production apps, the backend behind them, and the unglamorous part where you own a thing after it ships and it breaks at midnight. That is where the habit came from: build the whole system, then stand behind it.
Moving into AI automation did not change the habit, only the surface. What kept pulling my attention was a leak that almost nobody measures. A business pays for ads, visitors arrive, some of them raise a hand — and then nobody answers in time. The enquiry does not fail loudly. It just quietly becomes somebody else's customer.
Everything below comes after that turn. Three products, all inside the last two years. Two of them stopped. The one that did not is what I do now, full-time.
Most founder pages list only the wins. This one lists all three, with their real status — because the two that stopped are the reason the third one works.
Inbox automation for cold-email agencies — reply classification, hot-lead routing, domain health monitoring. Built, working, and parked. Not because it broke. Because splitting attention across products is how you end up with three half-finished ones, and the clinic problem was the one I wanted my whole week on.
An AI assistant that qualified WhatsApp leads for small Dubai real-estate agencies. It died on Meta Business Verification — the channel it depended on sat behind an approval I could not get. The honest lesson: never build your product on a door somebody else controls. The engine survived, though. Same brain, pointed at a channel nobody has to approve — the website.
An AI web receptionist for dental and health clinics. It sits on the clinic's own website, replies in seconds at any hour, answers safely, qualifies the visitor, captures a name and phone number, and alerts the clinic straight away. Built so it cannot invent a price, confirm insurance cover, or give medical advice — it hands those to a human instead. Current focus, full-time.
Software that speaks for a clinic carries the clinic's liability. So the system is built to defer — it says "I'll have the team confirm that" rather than inventing an answer. That is a constraint chosen at the start, not a filter bolted on later.
If a figure appears anywhere I publish, you can see where it came from — and where something is a widely-repeated industry estimate rather than verified data, I say so. We once found an unsourceable statistic on our own homepage and documented the correction publicly. In a category built on recycled claims, that is the cheapest honesty available.
The conversational AI, the database, the integrations, the companion app, this website — same pair of hands. There is no support tier to escalate through, and no account manager relaying your question to someone who actually knows. Small is the advantage here, so I use it instead of pretending to be a platform.
